Our Daily Bread has been nominated for the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, representing Ireland, in the Bread Category. How amazing is that? I feel super chuffed and priviliged to be a part of the team behind that book, and I'm certain there will be some sipping of Champagne at the big award ceremony in Paris in March. Exciting!

I hope you've all had a lovely time over the holidays.

The Irish Times, published on 30. May, chose Our Daily Bread as their book of the week. Happy days!

Marie-Claire Digby at the Irish times wrote :

" Barron's Bakery has been supplying fresh bread in Cappoquin, Co Waterford since 1887. Esther Barron now runs the business with her husband Joe Prendergast, and she still uses the bakery's original Scotch brick ovens. Roz Crowley interviewed more than 100 people associated with the bakery for this book, and the stories from family members, staff and customers make for fascinating reading. There are recipes, too, and it's available from the bakery or online at barronsbakery.ie."

Our Daily Bread is also in second place in the best seller list for non fiction hardbacks in Ireland last week, where it i.e. managed to beat Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals. Now, that's not something that happens every day.
